RCBC Bankard, the credit card arm of RCBC Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC), has turned over ₱2.2-million to Gawad Kalinga, one of the biggest poverty alleviation and nation-building movements in the Philippines.
Mylene J. Bico, chief commercial officer of RCBC Bankard said through its Diamond Cares Program, the financial institution collected a total of ₱2,195,892.37 in donations from 11,873 active cardholders. The amount, in turn, was extended to Gawad Kalinga as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.
Under the program, RCBC Bankard automatically donates ₱0.10 of every ₱100 spent by cardholders.
“Through our cardholders patronage they have become positive agents of change,” Bico said.
The RCBC Bankard executive meanwhile expressed admiration towards Gawad Kalinga’s devoted advocacy towards poverty alleviation.
Since the relaunch of the RCBC Bankard Diamond Card with GK’s Kusina ng Kalinga, its cardholders are given a credit card product that not only gives them a wide-array of perks and privileges, but also the opportunity to give back to society. GK’s Kusina ng Kalinga provides everyday meals for public school youths.
“Part of RCBC Bankard’s mission is to help in nation building, and we are grateful that our cardholders have chosen to use their RCBC Bankard Diamond card. Every time we turnover a donation, there is always a promise of a better future,” Bico added.
